Healing-Shiatsu Touch
"The art of witnessing through touch and breath"
In Healing-Shiatsu great emphasis is placed on "who" is doing the work. The practitioner will be invited to investigate through the practice of mindful attention to posture, breathing, movement and attitude their own tendencies and characteristics.
This constitutes a central part of the training and of the self-healing process as without direct and personal investigation into one's own life, the ability to guide and support others is greatly impaired.
In this approach the quality of touch and intention plays a vital part in conveying the attitude of non-intrusion. The practitioners are taught how to practise "just touching" and "just receiving" without resisting or forcing thus enabling the healing process to take place at its own pace and in an unforced manner.
The origin of dis-ease
In Healing-Shiatsu dis-ease is viewed as a state of "having lost the ability to come back to balance". It is a state of dis-comfort, of dissatisfaction in one's life originating from not knowing how to come back to ease.
Therefore the role of the practitioner is not so much about changing or treating another person but more about re-educating, guiding and introducing through touch and exercise the tools to regain and maintain health and ease.
As a Healing-Shiatsu practitioner the greatest skill to cultivate is that of acceptance, not in the submissive sense of the word, but arising from true understanding of human nature and the origin of dis-ease.
